Des Lawrence studied at Glasgow School of Art and Goldsmiths College, London. He lives and works in London.
Des Lawrence’s practice includes painting, drawing, text and installation. The principal theme of his work is derived from current newspaper obituaries. The artworks are tributes and memorials to the recently deceased. Selected shows include the The Real: Three Propositions at White Cube, London, The London Open at Whitechapel Gallery, London and To Hope, to Tremble, to Live at Hepworth Wakefield. The artist was awarded the Abbey Scholarship at the British School in Rome in 2005.
